In spite of the amount of advice and information you can find about resolving your relationship problems, there are some relationships that just shouldn’t continue!

We have relationships of many kinds during our lives as I'm sure you're aware. You’re also already familiar with the fact that you play many different roles in life. You know that you may be a son/daughter, a mother/father, a teacher, artist, cook, friend etc. What you’re possibly not aware of is that you also play different roles based on the situation you’re in. By and large we conform to the ‘norms’ (or acceptable behaviour) associated with our role at the time as they guide us in how we’re expected to behave in that group. For example, as a mum you don’t behave in the same way with a group of friends as you do when at home with your family (I hope!)

Relationships with our children can often be difficult – whatever age they are! There are numerous reasons why we can no longer effectively communicate with each other and why we seem to clash over the same things and repeat the same old patterns. But let’s start by going back to basics.
